Buccaneers Trade TE Tim Wright To Lions For K Kyle Brindza

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Buccaneers are trading TE Tim Wright to the Lions.

  • According to Field Yates, the Lions are sending the Buccaneers K Kyle Brindza in return for Wright.

This marks the second time in the past two years that the Buccaneers have traded Wright to a team in need of tight end help.

Tampa Bay wound up claiming Wright off of waivers from the Patriots back in June, so his return to the Bucs was obviously short lived.

Wright, 25, has one year remaining on his three-year, $1.485 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $585,000 for the 2015 season. After that, he would be a restricted free agent in 2016.

Last year, appeared in all 16 games for the Patriots and caught 26 passes for 256 yards receiving and six touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him down for playing 357 snaps last season.

    • Yeah, it wound up being a one-for-one deal. Wright gets traded for the 2nd time by the Buccaneers. Still no guarantee he makes the Lions’ 53-man roster.
