Buccaneers Worked Out Eight Including RB Spencer Ware

According to Howard Balzer, the Buccaneers worked out eight free agents on Tuesday, including RB Spencer Ware and WR J.J. Nelson. 

The full list of tryouts includes:

1. LB Sam Acho
2. DE Quinton Bell
3. WR Maurice Harris
4. WR J.J. Nelson
5. QB Tyree Jackson
6. TE Matt Lengel
7. TE Eric Tomlinson
8. RB Spencer Ware

Of this group, the Buccaneers signed Acho to their active roster. (NFLTR)

Ware, 27, is a former sixth-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2013. He spent over a year in Seattle before signing on with the Chiefs at the end of the 2014 season.

The Chiefs signed Ware to a three-year, $4.2 million contract that included $1.6 million guaranteed in 2016.  The team allowed Ware to hit free agency after his contract expired following this past season.  

The Colts signed Ware to a one-year, $1.3 million deal for the 2019 season. Indianapolis released Ware from the PUP list last month. Since becoming a free agent, he worked out for the Cardinals and Raiders but left both meetings without a contract. 

In 2018, Ware appeared in 13 games for the Chiefs, rushing 51 times for 246 yards (4.8 YPC) and two touchdowns.  Ware also caught 20 passes for 224 yards receiving.

Nelson, 27, is a former fifth-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2015. He played out the final year of his four-year rookie contract before signing on with the Raiders this past March. 

Oakland elected to release him last month to make room for WR Marcell Ateman on their active roster. 

In 2019, Nelson has appeared in two games for the Raiders and caught four passes for 36 yards receiving and one touchdown.
