Buccaneers Worked Out Eight Including WR Corey Coleman

According to Howard Balzer, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers brought in eight free agents for workouts on Tuesday.

The full list of tryouts for the Buccaneers includes:

  1. G Kofi Amichia
  2. WR Jace Billingsley
  3. WR Fred Brown
  4. WR Corey Coleman
  5. WR Damoun Patterson
  6. WR Austin Proehl
  7. QB Joe Callahan
  8. OT De’Ondre Wesley

Of this group, the Buccaneers signed Patterson to their practice squad.

Coleman, 24, is a former first-round pick of the Browns back in 2016. He was in the third year of his four-year, $11.654 million contract and set to make base salaries of $1.5 million and $2 million over the next two years of the agreement when he was traded to the Bills for a 2020 seventh-round pick.

Unfortunately, the Bills elected to waive him coming out of the preseason. Coleman signed on with the Patriots but was just cut loose shortly after and signed to their practice squad.

New England elected to cut Coleman from their practice squad after 10 days. This is the first team to reportedly show interest in him since becoming a free agent.

In 2017, Coleman appeared in nine games and caught 23 passes for 305 yards receiving and nine touchdowns. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 83 receiver out of 116 qualifying players.

Callahan, 25, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Packers as an undrafted free agent out of Wesley College back in May of last year. He was able to make the 53-man roster as the team’s No. 3 quarterback coming out of the preseason but was later cut loose.

Callahan had brief stints with the Saints and Browns before returning to the Packers during the 2016 season. Green Bay cut Callahan loose as they trimmed their roster down to 53 players and he was later signed to their practice squad.

The Packers re-signed Callahan as an exclusive rights free agent during the offseason, but he was let go and later signed by the Eagles. Unfortunately, Callahan was among their roster cuts coming out of the preseason.

In 2017, Callahan appeared in one game for the Packers and completed five of seven pass attempts for 11 yards and no touchdowns of interceptions.
