According to Rick Stroud, the Buccaneers are hosting free-agent K Cody Parkey for a workout.
Tampa Bay is also set to host K Ryan Succop for a visit as they are unhappy with their current kicker battle between Matt Gay and Elliott Fry.
Parkey was actually a teammate of Succop’s last year with the Titans before Tennessee released him upon Succop’s return from injured reserve. Fry was one of the kickers that competed to replace Parkey after he was cut by the Bears.
Parkey, 28, originally signed on with the Colts as an undrafted free agent out of Auburn back in May of 2014. However, he was traded to the Eagles after a few months in exchange for RB David Fluellen.
Parkey had brief stints with the Eagles, Browns and Dolphins before signing a four-year, $15 million contract that included $9 million guaranteed with the Bears in 2018. Chicago designated Parkey as a post-June 1 cut last offseason following his infamous missed field goal in the 2018 playoffs.
Parkey signed with the Titans in 2019 but was released after just a few games.
In 2019, Parkey appeared in three games for the Titans and made all three of his field goal attempts and was 5-6 on extra points.
