Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera mentioned that he will give QB Cam Newton another start for Thursday game against the Cincinnati Bengals, per Steve Reed of the Gaston Gazette. Rivera noted that this doesn’t mean that Newton has won the starting job yet but the fact that the Panthers are going to leave him in their for the three quarters of the game suggests that he’s basically the teams starter.
Last week Rivera had said that the team would be announcing their starting quarterback on Monday but neither Newton or Jimmy Clausen was able to win the job outright on Friday. Newton would have to do a lot wrong to lose the job at this point in time.
