The Arizona Cardinals officially claimed DE Pita Taumoepenu off of waivers from the 49ers and waived LB James Folston.
Taumoepenu, 25, is a former sixth-round pick of the 49ers back in 2017. He agreed to a four-year, $2.5 million contract, but was waived coming out of the preseason last year.
The 49ers re-signed him to their practice squad before promoting him towards the end of the season. However, he was cut loose on Tuesday.
In 2018, Taumoepenu appeared in four games for the 49ers and recorded three tackles and no sacks.
