Cardinals G Evan Mathis Carted To Locker Room With Left Foot Injury

Cardinals veteran G Evan Mathis was carted to the locker room during Sunday night’s game against the Patriots with a left foot injury.

Kent Somers points out that Mathis underwent surgery on both ankles in the offseason.

Mathis, 34, is a former third-round pick of the Panthers back in 2005. He wound up traveling around a bit after he was waived by the Bengals, playing for the Dolphins and Bengals before signing on with the Eagles in 2011.

Philadelphia elected to cut Mathis loose in June of last year after being on the trading block for awhile, but he managed to secure a one-year deal with the Broncos before the start of the season.

The Cardinals signed him to a one-year, $1,000,069 million contract with another $4.99 million available through bonuses and incentives.

In 2015, Mathis appeared in all 16 games for the Broncos and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 3 guard out of 81 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding Mathis’ injury as the news is available.
