Cardinals Interviewed John DeFilippo For Offensive Coordinator Job

John Gambadoro of 98.7 FM in Arizona reports that the Cardinals interviewed former Vikings OC John DeFilippo for their offensive coordinator vacancy on Sunday.

The Cardinals reportedly offered their offensive coordinator job to Steve Sarkisian before he decided to return to Alabama. Former Giants HC Ben McAdoo has spoken with Arizona about a job as well.

DeFilippo, 40, began his NFL coaching career with the Giants back in 2005. He spent two years with the Giants before the Raiders hired him as their quarterbacks coach in 2007.

After a brief stint with the Jets, DeFilippo returned to the Raiders and was later hired by the Browns as their offensive coordinator in 2015. Unfortunately, the Browns fired their coaching staff after one season and he later agreed to coach the Eagles quarterbacks last year.

The Vikings hired DeFilippo as their offensive coordinator back in February, replacing Pat Shurmur. However, he was fired midseason.

In 2018, the Vikings offense ranked No. 17 in total yards, No. 20 in points scored, No. 30 in rushing yards and No. 8 in passing yards at the time DeFillippo was let go.
