The Arizona Cardinals announced that they have put six players on the PUP list including TE Charles Clay (knee), LB Brooks Reed (knee), DL Robert Nkemdiche (knee), OL Max Garcia (knee), CB Brandon Williams (back) and LB Dante Booker (knee).
Clay, 30, is a former sixth-round pick of the Dolphins back in 2011. After four years in Miami, the Bills signed him away from the Dolphins and gave him a five-year, $38 million contract that included $20 million guaranteed.
Clay was set to make a base salary of $4.5 million for the 2019 season when the Bills released him. He signed a one-year, $3.25 million deal with the Cardinals this offseason.
In 2018, Clay appeared in 13 games for the Bills and caught 21 passes for 184 yards receiving and no touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 50 tight end out of 70 qualifying players.
Nkemdiche, 24, is a former first-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2016. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $7.6 million contract and set to make a base salary of $1,122,808 for the 2019 season.
Arizona declined Nkemdiche’s fifth-year option back in May. He will be an unrestricted free agent in 2020.
In 2018, Nkemdiche appeared in 10 games for the Cardinals and recorded 32 tackles, 4.5 sacks, a forced fumble and a pass defense.
