The Arizona Cardinals have promoted Sย D.J. Swearinger to their active roster on Tuesday and placed G Earl Watford on season-ending injured reserve.
Swearinger, 23, is a formerย second-round pick of the Texans out ofย South Carolina back in 2013.ย The Texans waivedย Swearinger shortly after the draft, andย he was later claimed by the Buccaneers. Unfortunately, Tampa Bay cut him loose a fewย weeks ago.
Swearinger wound up signing to the Cardinals’ practice a week ago.
This season,ย Swearinger has appeared in seven games for the Buccaneers and recorded 12 tackles and a fumble recovery.
Watford, 25, is in the third year of his four-year, $2.595 million rookie contract that included a $434,864 signing bonus. He’ll make a base salary of $585,000 this season and another $675,000 next year.
This season, Watford appeared in eight games for the Cardinals.
