Kent Somer of AzCentral.com reports that the Cardinals have decided to go back to Ryan Lindley as their starting quarterback for Week 17โs game against the 49ers.
Earlier in the week, HC Bruce Arians announced that rookie QB Logan Thomas was going to get his first NFL start. However, Thomas reportedly did not practice well on Wednesday, which forced the team to reconsider their decision.
According to Darren Urban, got off to a โseriously shaky startโ at practice this week.
Arians did say that they would have a โquick hookโ for Thomas should he struggle, so there a chance all along that Lindley could have seen some playing time, even if the rookie started Sundayโs game.
Last week, Lindley completed 18-of-44 passes for 216 yards and an interception during their loss to the Seahawks.
The Cardinals are still hoping that Drew Stanton will be back for the playoffs, but he did not practice on Wednesday.
Arizona could still get a playoff bye if they were to beat the 49ers and the Seahawks lose to the Rams. Thereโs also a chance that the Cardinals could secure home field advantage in the postseason, but this would require a win over San Francisco, a Seahawks loss to the Rams, and a Lions win over the Packers.
