Mike Jurecki of ESPN 910 reports that the Cardinals stillย have free agent TEย Chris Cooley on their radar even after they signed Jermaine Gresham to a one-year deal last week.
ESPN’s Adam Schefterย citing a league source,ย reported close to a week ago that the Cardinals hadย spoken to Cooleyย and expressed interest in signing him to a contract.
This cameย just a day after Cooley said that he would consider returning to the NFL if an opportunity presented itself.
โIf I went to camp, I could be anybodyโs third tight end, worst case,โ Cooleyย said, via the Washington Post. โI have no doubt. Any team in the NFL, I could be their third tight end. Thereโs not a question in my mind.โ
While Cooley โabsolutelyโ would listen if a team called,ย but also acknowledged thatย the idea โseems far-fetched to anybody else.โ
Cooley, 33, hasn’t appeared in an NFL game since the 2012 season with the Redskins.ย That year, Cooley was limited to appearing in just eight games and recording a single catch for eight yards receiving.
We’ll have more regarding Cooley returning to the NFL as the news is available.
