Carl Nicks Reiterates That He Wants To Be The Highest Paid G In The League

Saints G Carl Nicks joined WWL in New Orleans and mentioned once again that he intends on being the highest paid player at the guard position in the NFL.

I plan to be the highest paid guard in the NFL,” he said. “You can take that whatever kinda way but that’s my goal. So more than Logan Mankins got I guess.”

Last year the Patriots gave Mankins a six-year contract worth a total of $51 million and includes $30 million guarantees and Nicks could very well best that offer on the open market.

I don’t wanna sound cocky or anything but I busted my butt for four years, I made a couple Pro Bowls,” Nicks added. “For my first three years I was the lowest paid guard of all the starting guard in the NFL.”

His return to New Orleans was already viewed as a long-shot before he started saying that he wanted to be the highest paid player so it now seems as though there’s almost no chance of him returning. The Cowboys and Bears have been rumored to have interest in Nicks but his asking price will almost certainly impact the amount of suitors.

We have Nicks listed as the #4 best available free agent in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
