Chargers Claim RB Gus Johnson Off Waivers From Falcons

The San Diego Chargers announced that they’ve claimed RB Gus Johnson off of waivers from the Falcons.

  • The Chargers also placed Chris Watt on the PUP list.

The Chargers needed another running back after losing Brandon Oliver for the season, due to an Achilles injury.

Johnson, 23, originally signed on with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of Stephen F. Austin back in May. He lasted just a few days with Oakland before he was waived and later signed on with the Cowboys.

Johnson was on and off of the Cowboys’ practice squad before signing on to the Falcons taxi squad back in October. The Falcons signed him to a future/reserve contract in January before recently cutting him loose.

Johnson has yet to appear in an NFL game.
