Phil Perry first reported that the Chargers have claimed TE Asante Cleveland off of waivers from the Patriots.
Cleveland, 23, originally signed on with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent out of Miami (FL) back in May of last year. He spent a good majority of last year on the team’s practice squad.
The Patriots traded for him in August, but he was unfortunately unable to make the team’s 53-man roster coming out of the preseason. New England later promoted him close to a month ago be was waived this past weekend.
This season, Cleveland has appeared in four games and recorded a single reception for one yard receiving and no touchdowns for the Patriots.
