Chargers Claim Veteran CB Robert McClain Off Waivers From Panthers

The San Diego Chargers announced Monday that they’ve claimed veteran CB Robert McClain off of waivers from the Panthers.

McClain, 28, is a former seventh-round pick of the Panthers back in 2010. He spent a few years with the Falcons before returning to the Panthers back in December of last year. Carolina elected to waive him last week.

McClain stands to make a base salary of $760,000 for the 2016 season.

In 2016, McClain has appeared in 11 games for the Panthers and recorded 38 tackles, a half sack, no interceptions and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 115 cornerback out of 123 qualifying players.
