Chargers OT Jared Gaither Unlikely to Play Against The Chiefs

Kevin Acee of the Union Tribune tweets that he’ll be very impressed if Chargers OT Jared Gaither ends up playing on Sunday against the Chiefs.

“Indications have been that he won’t”. Acee tweets, “A full practice is a big step & they need him.”

The Chargers will rely in 6th round pick Mike Harris for the fourth straight week. He has exceeded some expectations, as he has played better than many of us though prior to the start of the season.

San Diego Chargers OT Jared Gaither was able to participate in Thursday’s practice on a limited basis, but head coach Norv Turner mentioned that it would be “very difficult” for him to suit up this weekend, per Michael Gehlken.

Turner added that Gaither still has a shot at playing against the Kansas City, but even if he is able to go, it is hard to imagine him having a large role. The Chargers have been relying on Mike Harris in recent weeks, and have surprisingly been better in regards to their offensive line play than many would have expected.

A few weeks ago, there was actually some talk that Gaither may not play in a single game for the Chargers this season, despite the fact that they recently gave him a multi-year contract. The fact that he has been able to return to practice suggests that he is at least part of their plans this season.
