The Los Angeles Chargers are placing OL Trey Pipkins on the COVID-19 list Friday after he had close contact with OL Ryan Groy, who tested positive on Thursday.
The good news for the Chargers is that HC Anthony Lynn said Pipkins could still play on Sunday, per Jeff Miller.
The COVID-19 list was created this summer for a player who either tests positive for or who has been quarantined after having been in close contact with an infected person or persons.
Players will remain on the list until they are medically cleared to return.
Pipkins, 24, is a former third-round pick of the Chargers back in 2019 out of Sioux Falls. He’s in the second year of his four-year, $3,397,072 rookie contract including an $877,072 signing bonus.
In 2020, Pipkins has appeared in six games for the Chargers, making three starts for them.
During his college career at Sioux Falls, Pipkins was a finalist for the Upshaw Award for the best Division 2 offensive lineman and was a first-team All-American by the Associated Press.
