Chargers Release Veteran WR James Jones

Annie Heilbrunn reports that the Chargers have released veteran WR James Jones on Monday, as they work to cut their roster down to the 75-man limit by tomorrow.

Jones, 32, is a former third-round pick of the Packers back in 2007. He spent seven years with the Packers before signing on with the Raiders as an unrestricted free agent in 2014.

Jones later returned to the Packers after they lost Jordy Nelson for the season last year and went on to produce a productive season for Green Bay. The Chargers signed him to a contract earlier in the month.

In 2015, Jones appeared in all 16 games for the Packers and recorded 50 receptions for 890 yards receiving and eight touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 45 receiver out of 121 qualifying players.
