Chargers Rookie WR Mike Williams Making NFL Debut In Week 6

Adam Schefter reports that Chargers first-round WR Mike Williams will, in fact, be making his NFL debut on Sunday against the Raiders.

Williams suffered a disc injury in his back this summer that led to him missing training camp and the first four games of the regular season. While Los Angeles opted to not place him on the PUP list, Schefter says that their plan has been to hold him out until Week 6 all along.

The Chargers have gotten off to a disappointing start to the season, so it can’t hurt to get their top overall draft choice back this weekend.

Williams, 23, was selected with the No. 7 overall pick by the Chargers in this year’s NFL draft. He a four-year contract worth $19,750,056, which includes a signing bonus of $12,503,676, and he stands to make base salaries of $465,000 and $555,000 over the first two years of the agreement.

The contract also has a fifth-year option for the team to consider in 2020.

During his college career at Clemson, Williams caught 177 passes for 2,727 yards receiving (15.4 YPR) and 21 touchdowns over the course of 38 games.
