Chargers Rule Out DE Joey Bosa For Week 1

The Los Angeles Chargers officially ruled out DE Joey Bosa on Friday with a foot injury for Week 1’s season opener against the Chiefs.

Bosa was spotted earlier in the day with a walking boot on his injured foot and he did not participate in practice, so it was clear that he was likely to miss their first game of the season.

Bosa is considered week-to-week with a foot injury. He actually suffered a different foot injury back on Aug. 7, which forced him to miss the entire the preseason, but unfortunately sustained a different injury to the same foot on Wednesday.

Bosa, 23, is a former first-round pick of the Chargers back in 2016. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $25.8 million contract and stands to make base salaries of $630,000 and $720,000 over the final two years of the agreement.

The Chargers have a fifth-year to pick up regarding Bosa next year.

In 2017, Bosa appeared in all 16 games for the Chargers and recorded 70 tackles, 12.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, a recovery and a pass defense.
