Chargers Working Out Veteran WR Brian Hartline

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Chargers are also bringing in veteran WR Brian Hartline for a workout on Tuesday.

This comes shortly after the news that the Chargers are meeting with James Jones today. San Diego is obviously wasting no time finding another receiver now that WR Stevie Johnson is likely to undergo surgery for a torn meniscus, and could be out an extended period of time.

This is the first reported interest in Hartline since he became available several months ago.

Hartline, 29, was in the final year of his two-year, $6 million contract when the Browns released him in a move that freed free up $3 million in available cap space.

In 2015, Hartline appeared in 12 games for the Browns and recorded 46 receptions for 523 yards receiving and two touchdowns. His season, unfortunately, came to an end after he sustained a broken collarbone in December and was subsequently placed on season-ending injured reserve.

Pro Football Focus has Hartline rated as the No. 59 receiver out of 121 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Best Available Free Agents list.
