Chargers Expected To Make Several Changes To Their Roster?

Michael Gehlken of North County Times takes a look at the 25 Chargers players who are set to become free agents in the coming months.

Their offensive line figures to see a complete makeover next season with guards Louis Vasquez and Tyronne Green set to become free agents, as well as OT Jared Gaither. Gehlken notes that it will not be easy for San Diego to get out from under Gaither’s four-year, $24.5 million contract that he signed last year because he still has $6 million his prorated signing bonus remaining.

Gehlken sees the Chargers placing a first-round tender on Danario Alexander, which would practically guarantee that he’s back with the team next season and DT Antonio Garay could be released while LB Takeo Spikes will probably be allowed to leave.

There’s no question that it’s about time for this team to get a makeover. Multiple years of limited production and obvious holes on both sides of their roster is more than enough to warrant significant change for San Diego. Norv Turner and A.J. Smith figure to be replaced on Monday, so the Chargers look to be in for a very interesting offseason.
