Chiefs Bring In Former Packers DE Jerel Worthy For Workout

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that the Chiefs brought in former second-round pick DE Jerel Worthy for a workout on Monday.

  • La Canfora adds that other players were also in attendance for tryouts on Monday, but didn’t offer any names.

This comes just a day after the team lost veteran DE Mike DeVito for the season with a torn Achilles’ tendon.

The Packers sent Worthy to the Patriots in trade that included a conditional 2015 late-round draft pick, but he was unable to make the team, which eliminated the draft compensation for Green Bay.

Worthy, 24, is coming off of a season-ending ACL injury, so there are some concerns about his ability moving forward. However, Chiefs GM John Dorsey was with the Packers when they drafted Worthy, so he’s more than familiar with what he brings to the table.

We’ll have to see if Kansas City elects to sign him to a contract.
