Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy Withdraws Name From Consideration For Colorado HC Job

Mike Klis of 9 News reports that Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy turned down an opportunity to become the head coach at Colorado Thursday night.

Bieniemy was never formally interviewed for the job, but appeared to be Colorado’s top choice.

Bieniemy figures to be a top NFL head-coaching candidate next year and is in a great situation with the Chiefs.

Bieniemy, 50, played 10 seasons in the NFL for the Chargers, Bengals and Eagles before retiring in 1999. His NFL coaching career began in 2006 when he took over as the Vikings’ RBs coach.

The Chiefs hired him for the same position in 2013 and he was later promoted to offensive coordinator last year.

In 2019, the Chiefs’ offense ranked No. 6 in total yards, No. 5 in total points, No. 23 in rushing yards and No. 5 in passing yards.
