Update: The Chiefs placed OL Martinas Rankin on injured reserve and signed OL Jackson Barton to the active roster from the Colts practice squad.
According to Ian Rapoport, Chiefs OL Martinas Rankin is having an MRI to confirm what the team believes to be a season-ending knee injury to his patella.
Rankin, 25, was selected with the third round of the 2018 draft by the Texans. He signed a four-year, $3,546,268 deal and made a base salary of $480,000 for the 2018 season.
Rankin was entering the second year of his deal when he was traded to the Chiefs in exchange for RB Carlos Hyde.
In 2019, Rankin appeared in six games for the Chiefs and made five starts. He was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 63 guard out of 78 qualifying players.
