Chiefs-Patriots Game Postponed, Expected To Be Played Monday Or Tuesday

Update:

Adam Schefter reports that the Chiefs vs. Patriots game is being postponed and is expected to be played Monday or Tuesday.

Here’s the official statement from the NFL:

Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Chiefs vs. Patriots game is not expected to be played as scheduled tomorrow at 4:25 ET.

  • Ian Rapoport mentions that one option to watch is for the game to be moved to Monday.
  • Adam Schefter says another scenario being considered is for the Patriots to fly out to Kansas City on Sunday and play on Tuesday.

This comes after the news that Cam Newton tested positive for COVID-19 this morning.

The Patriots have conducted another round of tests Saturday morning but are waiting on the results and have since set players how.

Considering the Titans’ outbreak, it would make sense for the NFL to be very cautious in how they handle this situation. Tennessee still has players and staff members testing positive a week later.

If the Chiefs-Patriots game can’t be played in the coming days, there likely won’t be an easy solution like the NFL had by readjusting a few games and utilizing bye weeks in Week 7 and 8.

We’ll have more regarding the Chiefs-Patriots game as the new sis available.
