Chiefs Could Promote Brett Veach To GM Before Training Camp?

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that it wouldn’t be a surprise if the Chiefs promotedĀ Brett Veach to GM before the start of training camp in the next few weeks. This is based on what La Canfora has heard regarding the Chiefs’ GM search.

According to La Canfora, Chief HC Andy Reid has had “little to no role” in interviewing process up to this point, which is further evidence that the decision to move on from John Dorsey was spearheaded by ownership.

All indications have been that Veach is the guy to watch for the job, even though Kansas City has interviewedĀ Titans director of player personnel Ryan Cowden andĀ SeahawksĀ co-director of player personnel Scott FittererĀ for the job.

Other reported candidates for the Chiefs’ position includeĀ Mike Borgonzi and ESPN analyst Louis Riddick.Ā

Veach is the team’s co-director of player personnel and has been a popular name connected to the Chiefs’ position since they surprisingly fired Dorsey a few weeks ago.

The Bills actually showed interest in Veach shortly after they moved on from Doug Whaley, but they elected to go in a different direction.

We’ll have more regarding the Chiefs’ GM search as the news is available.
