The Kansas City Chiefs have placed RB Tremon Smith on waivers and promoted WR Byron Pringle to their active roster, according to Aaron Wilson.
Pringle, 25, signed with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent out of Kansas State in 2018. He ended up spending his first year on the Chiefs’ injured reserve list.
Pringle made the Chiefs 53-man roster this year in his second season, but was just recently waived to make room for WR De’Anthony Thomas and later re-signed to their practice squad.
During his two-year college career, Pringle caught 69 passes for 1,355 yards (19.6 YPC) and 10 touchdowns.
Smith, 23, is a former sixth-round pick of the Chiefs back in 2018. He’s currently in the second year of his four-year, $2.6 million contract and stands to make a base salary of 570,000 for the 2019 season.
For his career, Smith has been active for 15 games, but has yet to receive a carry.
