Chiefs Sign Four Players Including C Drew Nowak, Cut Four

The Kansas City Chiefs announced that they’ve signed four players to contracts on Tuesday including former Seahawks C Drew Nowak.

  • The other players signed to contracts include: DB Shannon Edwards, OL Garrick Mayweather and OL Zach Sterup.
  • The Chiefs also waived four players including: OL Jake Bernstein, OL Ben Clarke, OL Laurence Gibson and DB Jordan Kovacs.

Nowak, 26, originally signed on with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent out of Western Michigan back in 2012. He spent a few years on and of the Jaguars’ active roster before signing a future/reserve contract with Seattle back in February of last year.

The Seahawks wound up entering the 2015 season with Nowak as their starting center after trading Max Unger to the Saints in return for Jimmy Graham. However, he was waived later on in the year.

Seattle elected to bring him back on a future/reserve deal a few months ago, only to waive him last week.

In 2015, Nowak has appeared in eight games for the Seahawks before being benched after their Week 9 bye. Pro Football Focus has Nowak rated as the No. 22 center out of 37 qualifying players.
