Chiefs Worked Out 6 LBs Including James Laurinaitis & Nate Irving

Adam Caplan of ESPN reports that the Chiefs brought in free agent linebackers Miles Burris, James Laurinaitis, Nate Irving, Jayson DiManche, Nick Moody, and Jasper Brinkley.

This comes after the Chiefs lost ILB Derrick Johnson for the season with an Achilles tear last week.

Laurinaitis, 30, is a former second-round pick of the Rams back in 2009. He spent seven years with the Rams before he was released in February of last year.

, Laurinaitis signed a three-year, $8.25 million contract with the Saints back in March.

New Orleans placed Laurinaitis on injured reserve a few weeks ago with a quad injury and he was set to make a base salary of $900,000 for the 2016 season when the Saints waived him from injured reserve after he was medically cleared.

In 2016, Laurinaitis has appeared in five games for the Saints and recorded 17 tackles, a fumble recovery and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 87 linebacker out of 87 qualifying players.

Irving, 28, is a former third-round pick of the Broncos back in 2011. He played out his rookie contract with the Broncos before signing a three-year deal with the Colts as an unrestricted free agent last year.

Unfortunately for Irving, he was cut loose coming out of the preseason as the Colts trimmed their roster down to 53 players.

The Jets and Cardinals also worked out Irving recently but was not signed to a contract following either session.

In 2015, Irvin appeared in eight games for the Colts and recorded 14 tackles, one sack, a forced fumble and two pass defenses.
