Chris Kluwe Released by the Minnesota Vikings

Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com wrote early Monday it may soon be the end of the road in Minnesota for punter Chris Kluwe.

Indeed, Kluwe confirmed the rumors when he tweeted his goodbye Monday morning and took the opportunity to thank of all of his fans.

Kluwe, 31, was due to make $1.4 million this season in the final year of a seven-year deal signed back in 2007.

Perhaps the writing was on the wall a couple weeks back when the Vikings selected punter Jeff Locke in the fifth-round of the NFL Draft. Nonetheless, Kluwe’s age, salary and the ability of Locke all contributed to his release.
