Clinton Portis commented on his status for Sunday’s game against Green Bay by saying, “I don’t think the team would even let me go and attempt to try to play on Sunday,” but added “who knows?” Portis left the Sunday’s game with a groin injury. He later mentioned that he “heard a pop” during the play.
There has already been some talk circulating about a possible demotion for Portis. Backup running back Ryan Torain showed that he can be as productive if not more than Portis during last Sunday against the Eagles. He will get his chance to be the team’s featured running back this weekend but that doesn’t mean all that much given that Mike Shanahan has a history of using several backs throughout the course of a game.
