Colts Place CB Rashaan Melvin On Injured Reserve

The Indianapolis Colts announced Wednesday that they’re placing CB Rashaan Melvin on injured reserve.

This creates a roster spot for QB Brad Kaaya, who was signed off of the Lions’ practice squad (NFLTR).

Melvin will be a really interesting free agent next, as he’s coming off of a solid year for the Colts and should among the best cornerbacks available.

Melvin, 28, originally signed on with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent out of Northern Illinois back in 2013. He has played for a few teams since the Buccaneers cut him loose at the start of the 2014 season including the Dolphins, Ravens and Patriots.

In 2017, Melvin appeared in 10 games for the Colts and recorded 36 tackles, three interceptions and 13 pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 19 cornerback out of 121 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 25 – 2018 NFL Free Agents list.
