The Indianapolis Colts announced Monday morning that they have signed veteran OLBย Victor Butler to their active roster and waived OLBย Chris Carter to make room for him.
Butler, 27, signed a contract with the Cardinals two weeks ago, but was released just a few days ago. The Colts brought him in for a workout just a few days, so this isn’t a huge surprise.
The Saints signed Butler to a two-year, $3 million contractย that includedย $1.5 million guaranteed last season, butย was unfortunately among the Saints’ final roster cuts a few weeks ago as they trimmed their roster down to 53 players.
Butler tore his ACLย during offseason workouts last year and subsequently missed the entire 2013 season.
Carter, 25, is a formerย fifth-round pick of the Steelers back in 2011. He had played justย two defensive snaps for the Colts all season before being waived.
Over the last four years, Carter has appeared inย 30 games and recordedย eight tackles , one fumble recovery and nine special teams stops.
