Lengel, 28, originally signed on with the Bengals as an undrafted free agent out of Eastern Kentucky back in 2015. He spent over a year in Cincinnati before signing on to the Patriots’ practice squad during the 2016 season.
Lengel has a brief stint with the Browns before he was waived and later claimed by the Texans and eventually signed to their practice squad in September.
The Bengals claimed him off Houston’s taxi squad a month later but declined to tender him an offer in March, making him an unrestricted free agent.
In 2016, Lengel appeared in six games for the Patriots and caught two passes for 22 yards receiving and one touchdown.
