According to Aaron Wilson, the Colts hosted five tight ends for workouts on Tuesday including Xavier Grimble and Eric Tomlinson.
The full list of tryouts includes:
Grimble, 27, originally signed on with the Giants as an undrafted free agent out of USC back in 2014. He lasted just a few months with the Giants before eventually signing on to the 49ers’ practice squad.
Grimble had a brief stint with the Patriots before returning to the 49ers on a future/reserve contract in 2015. The Steelers later added him to their taxi squad and re-signed him to a restricted offer worth $2.025 million this past April.
The Steelers placed Grimble on injured reserve a waived him with a settlement near the end of October.
In 2019, Grimble has appeared in three games for the Steelers and caught one pass for three yards.
Tomlinson, 27, originally signed on with the Eagles in 2015 as an undrafted free agent out of UTEP. He was unfortunately among their final roster cuts, but later signed a future/reserve deal with the Texans.
Houston waived Tomlinson at the start of the 2016 regular season and he was later signed off of their practice squad by the Jets before eventually being added to their active roster.
New York declined to tender Tomlinson a restricted offer this offseason and he later had a brief stint with the Jets before signing on with the Giants soon after.
He was cut by New York and picked up by the Patriots last month but released after a week.
In 2019, Tomlinson has appeared in three games for the Giants and one game for the Patriots, catching one passs for one yard.
