Contract Extension Coming For Giants HC Tom Coughlin “In The Near Future”

New York Giants owner John Mara expects to have a contract extension in place for head coach Tom Coughlin at some point “in the near future.”

We’re working on it,” promised Mara, via ESPN New York. “It will be done sooner rather than later.”

It’s really amazing to what has transpired since the Giants were reportedly considering firing Coughlin right before they wound up defeating the Patriots back in 2007. Since then, Coughlin has won two Super Bowl titles, which happens to be as many as his soon-to-be Hall of Fame mentor, Bill Parcels.

There’s no question that Coughlin, 65, deserves a long-term commitment from the Giants, but they previously mentioned that he would have a extension in place months ago, so you have to wonder what the holdup is.
