Cowboys DT Maliek Collins To Open Camp On PUP List

Cowboys HC Jason Garrett told reporters on Monday that DT Maliek Collins will open training camp on the PUP list, per Clarence Hill.

This is really just a procedural move for the Cowboys, as Collins could still return before the start of the regular season. However, if they remain on the list for Week 1, he would miss the first six games of the season.

Collins previously underwent surgery for the broken foot he suffered back in May.

Collins, 23, is a former third-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2016. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $3,550,180 contract and stands to make base salaries of $755,000 and $851,528 over the final two years of the agreement.

In 2017, Collins appeared in all 16 games for the Cowboys and recorded 21 tackles, two sacks and two fumble recoveries. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 114 interior defender out of 122 qualifying players.
