MRI On Zack Martin’s Knee Shows “No Significant Damage”, Could Be Ready For Week 1

Update:

David Moore reports that the MRI on G Zack Martin’s left knee showed no significant injury and it’s possible he could be ready for the season opener against the Panthers.

Todd Archer reports that the diagnosis for Cowboys G Zack Martin is that he has a hyperextended left knee, but he’s still scheduled to undergo an MRI on Sunday.

Adam Schefter reports that Cowboys G Zack Martin will undergo an MRI on his knee Sunday morning to determine the severity of the issue.

“The doctors were somewhat optimistic based on their initial evaluation,” Cowboys HC Jason Garrett said, per David Moore.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said they’re optimistic that the injury isn’t serious, per David Helman.

The Dallas Cowboys announced Saturday that G Zack Martin left their preseason game against the Bengals with a knee injury.

Martin limped off the field and was examined in the medical tent on the sideline before he was taken to the locker room for further evaluation.

The Cowboys’ offensive line is already managing an injury to C Travis Frederick, so this is at least something to monitor.

Martin, 27, is a former first-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2014. He was in the final year of his four-year, $8.967 million contract when the Cowboys picked up his fifth-year option for the 2018 season.

Martin was set to make $9.341 million for the 2018 season when he agreed to a six-year, $84 million extension that includes $40 million guaranteed back in June.

In 2017, Martin appeared in all 16 games for the Cowboys and is rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 1 guard out of 77 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding Martin’s injury as the news is available.
