Cowboys Not Signing Kicker, Despite Trying Out Three

Update:

According to Clarence Hill, the Cowboys will not be signing a kicker as of now, despite holding a tryout on Sunday.

Cowboys HC Jason Garrett told reporters on Sunday that they’re working out three free agent kickers today after the recent struggles from K Brett Maher

Michael Gehlken mentions that Dallas is believed to be trying out kickers Austin MacGinnis, Nick Rose and Tristan Vizcaino.

On the season, Maher ha made 19 of 28 field goal attempts (67.9 percent) to go along with all 33 extra point tries.

Rose, 25, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Falcons as an undrafted free agent out of Texans back in 2016. After a brief stint with the 49ers, Rose signed on with the Redskins during the 2017 season.

Washington waived him after two months and he was later claimed by the Chargers and finished out the year in Los Angeles. Rose had stints with the Jets and Texans before the Chargers re-signed him for a few weeks late last year.

In 2017, Rose appeared in 10 games and converted 11 of 14 field goal attempts (78.6 percent) to go along with 23 of 26 extra point tries and 32 touchbacks.
