Ian Rap0port of NFL Network reports that Jets CB Darrelle Revis is “not optimistic” that a trade to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will ultimately get done.
Rapoport adds that Revis would like to remain with the Jets, but his best chance of securing a new extension is with the Buccaneers.
Tampa Bay has been the only team involved in serious negotiations for several weeks now, but talks between the two sides have reportedly been stopped in their tracks as they appear to have reached stalemate regarding compensation for Revis.
The Buccaneers unwillingness to include their No.13 overall pick in trade for Revis is likely holding up a deal. Instead, they would reportedly prefer to include 2014 selections or possibly a 2013 second-round pick. Trade talks should pickup as NFL Draft nears and there’s a chance that others could get involved by then.
