The Miami Dolphins officially re-signed exclusive rights free agent TE Thomas Duarte and DB Lafayette Pitts on Friday.
Duarte, 22, was a seventh-round pick by the Dolphins in last year’s NFL Draft. He signed a four-year, $2.41 million rookie contract and was set to make a base salary of $450,000 this yearย but was, unfortunately, cut loose coming out of the preseason.
The Dolphins later signed him to their practice squad a day later and he was eventually called up to their active roster in November.
In 2016,ย Duarte was active for just a single game and didn’t record a statistic.
During his three-year college career at UCLA, Duarte recorded 97 receptions for 1,626 yards and 17 touchdowns.
