Dolphins Releasing CB CB Tony Lippett

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Dolphins are releasing CB Tony Lippett on Saturday as they cut their roster down to 53 players.

Lippett had reportedly been on the trading block in recent days and it appears as though no deal ever surfaced.

The Dolphins’ roster cuts currently consist of:

  1. K Greg Joseph
  2. TE Gavin Escobar
  3. LB Frank Ginda
  4. DB Jonathan Alston
  5. DE Claudy Mathieu
  6. LB Cayson Collins
  7. LB Terence Garvin
  8. DT Anthony Moten
  9. WR Drew Morgan
  10. OL David Steinmetz
  11. CB Tony Lippett

Lippett, 26, is a former fifth-round pick of the Dolphins back in 2015. He was entering the final year of his four-year, $2,494,764 contract and was set to earn a base salary of $705,000 this season.

He landed on the Dolphins’ injured reserve in August of last year due to a torn Achilles’ tendon and missed the entire 2017 season

In 2016, Lippett appeared in all 16 games for the Dolphins and recorded 67 tackles, four interceptions, and 10 pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 80 cornerback out of 110 qualifying players.
