Jeff Howe of The Athletic reports that the Dolphins are signing former Patriots OL Ted Karras to a one-year, $4 million contract on Wednesday.
The Dolphins continue to add former Patriots. Karras was the best available center in this year’s market and should be a quality addition to their retooled offensive line.
Karras, 27, is a former sixth-round pick of the Patriots back in 2016. He signed a four-year deal with the Patriots, but was waived at the start of the 2017 season and later signed to their practice squad.
New England later added him to their practice squad and he finished out his contract last season. He was testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his NFL career.
In 2019, Karras appeared in 15 games for the Patriots, starting 15 games at center. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 20 center out of 38 qualifying players.
We had him included in our Top 100 Available 2020 Free Agents list.
