Dolphins Still In The Mix For WRs Greg Jennings & Wes Welker

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports that the Dolphins remain in the mix for free agents WRs Greg Jennings and Wes Welker.

  • According to Jackson, the Dolphins were aware of Jennings’ scheduled visit with the Jaguars.
  • Jackson mentions that Miami has yet to show interest in former Colts WR Reggie Wayne.

Jennings is reportedly visiting with the Saints in the coming days and has previously met with the Dolphins and Panthers.

The Dolphins hosted Welker for a visit a week ago, but his market has not been as active as Jennings. In fact, this has been the only reported visit for Welker since free agency got under way over a month ago.

Miami also met with Michael Crabtree, but he reached an agreement with the Raiders earlier in the week, so it appears as though the Dolphins have a certain price in mind that they’re willing to pay for a veteran receiver.

Jennings, 31, appeared in all 16 games for the Vikings and caught 59 receptions for 742 yards receiving and six touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the N0. 48 receiver out of 110 qualifying players.

Welker, 33, has dealt with concussions in recent years and there was a report from last month that he could consider walking away from the game. However, he later refuted the idea and said that he’s planning to play in 2015.

In 2014, Welker appeared in 14 games for the Broncos last year and caught 49 passes for 464 yards receiving and two touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the N0. 71 receiver out of 110 qualifying players.
