Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie May Not Sign Until April?

Free agent CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie tells Josina Anderson of ESPN that he’s in no rush to sign with a new team and could wait until “April sometime” before agreeing to a new deal.

Rodgers-Cromartie visited with the Redskins a few days ago but left without an agreement in place. There hasn’t been any reported interest in him since then, but it’s possible his market could pick up in the near future, seeing as he’s one of the best available cornerbacks.

It’s worth mentioning that signing him to a contract won’t impact a team’s 2019 compensatory picks, given that he was released this offseason.

Rodgers-Cromartie, 31, is a former first-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2008. He was in the final year of his five-year, $35 million contract that included $13.98 million guaranteed and set to make a base salary of $6.48 million for the 2018 season when the Giants released him in a move that freed up $6.5 million of available cap space.

In 2017, Rodgers-Cromartie appeared 15 games and recorded 48 tackles, a half sack, no interceptions and pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 58 cornerback out of 120 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 50 Available 2018 NFL Free Agents list.
