Eagles Activating WR Alshon Jeffery From PUP List, Still Unlikely To Play In Week 1

Eagles HC Doug Pederson told reporters after Thursday’s preseason game that they will activate WR Alshon Jeffery from the PUP list on Friday, per Tim McManus.

However, Ian Rapoport reports that Jeffery is still unlikely to be ready to play in their season opener.

The good news, of course, is that he won’t be moved to the reserve/PUP list which would have cost him the first six games of the regular season.

Jeffery, 28, was taken in the second round of the 2012 NFL draft by the Bears. He played out the final year of his four-year, $4.54 million rookie contract with Chicago before agreeing to a one-year, $9.5 million contract with the Eagles last year.

Jeffery was in line to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason before he agreed to a four-year, $52 million extension last year.

In 2017, Jeffery has appeared in all 16 games for the Eagles and caught 57 passes for 789 yards receiving and nine touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 21 receiver out of 116 qualifying players.
