Eagles Signing DE Vinny Curry For One Year, $2.25M

According to Zach Berman, the Philadelphia Eagles are nearing a deal to bring back DE Vinny Curry.

Per Ian Rapoport, the deal will be for one year and $2.25 million, with the potential for an additional $1.25 million in incentives.

Other offers were reportedly on the table, according to Geoff Mosher, but Curry took less to rejoin the team that drafted him.

Curry was released by the Buccaneers earlier this offseason. The Giants and Bengals also reportedly had interest.

It’s worth mentioning that signing Curry to a contract won’t impact a team’s 2019 compensatory picks, given that he was released this offseason.

Curry, 30, is a former second-round pick of the Eagles back in 2012. He signed a five-year, $47.25 million contract that included $23 million guaranteed with the Eagles back in 2016 but was released last year.

The Buccaneers later signed Curry to a three-year deal for up to $27 million in 2018, but was released a few weeks ago.

In 2018, Curry appeared in 12 games for the Buccaneers and recorded 21 tackles and 2.5 sacks. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 85 edge rusher out of 103 qualifying players.
