Eagles Nearly Dealt CB Asante Samuel To Detroit

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that the Philadelphia Eagles had a trade in place with the Lions that would have sent CB Asante Samuel to Detroit in return for two second-day draft picks but GM Howie Roseman decided to “called off” the deal in August.

Philadelphia was reportedly seeking a first-round pick in return for Samuel which is likely why the deal fell apart but at one point the Lions contacted Samuel so it was pretty close to happening.

The Philadelphia Inquirer believes that the Eagles will continue to shop Samuel during the offseason but certainly at a lower price as Samuel is set to make $8.4 million for the 2012 seaosn.
